John Brain performs brainysongs

‘’The children thoroughly enjoyed the variety of science and nature-themed songs as part of their science day at Ash Hill. They happily sung along to some of the choruses and asked and answered lots of science questions. One girl stopped me in the corridor afterwards to say how much she loved it. Thank you John!''

Mrs. Jo Sergeant (Co-Headteacher, Ash Hill Primary School, High Wycombe)

John is the founder of BrainySongs and has always played and performed music alongside his main career as a science educator. He started off playing fiddle and mandolin in touring Irish traditional music groups. Later he branched out and joined bands playing Delta blues and fusion world music. He has made numerous TV and radio appearances over the years.

John has 25 years experience teaching students from K-12 science in several international schools around the world. During that time, he has delivered a wide range of curricula in science, often to second language learners. For several years John was a highly-regarded teacher consultant for Cambridge International Education, creating innovative digital educational resources for them.

Nowadays, alongside running BrainySongs, John has started telling his science stories through song to children and families in live performances.

Earth Day

Plastic is the focus in this year's Earth Day efforts.

Unfortunately, all over the world we have a huge problem with microplastics in the soil.

This song celebrates the beauty and precious nature of soil.

It's great to be getting back into playing my mandolin again. I'm going to start using this in my live set more.
